HARIANEXPRESS – The Piala Presiden 2026 pre-season tournament is set to become a vital driver for regional economic growth by actively involving Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This significant event plans to feature 100 SMEs spread across its two host cities, Kabupaten Bandung and Surabaya. Organizers aim to generate a substantial multiplier effect, enhancing various local economic sectors, while local government officials encourage community participation to maximize benefits for tourism and commerce.
Piala Presiden 2026 Aims to Drive Local Economy
The organizing committee for the Piala Presiden 2026 has confirmed the involvement of a total of 100 SMEs. These businesses are strategically divided, with 50 SMEs participating in Kabupaten Bandung and another 50 in Surabaya, the two cities hosting the tournament.
Tsamara Amany, the Head of the Presidential Cup 2026 Organizing Committee, emphasized a stringent selection process for the participating businesses. She stated that this year features a more rigorous curation process for all SMEs involved.
Diverse SME Categories and Broader Economic Impact
The selected SMEs fall into three distinct categories to ensure broad representation and impact. These include well-established local SMEs, those currently in the process of scaling up, and new, emerging businesses.
This extensive involvement of hundreds of SMEs is a deliberate effort by the organizers to foster a wider economic impact throughout the host regions. The tournament anticipates boosting the hospitality, transportation, and culinary sectors.
“We hope the presence of supporters from outside the region can encourage the hospitality, transportation, culinary sectors, and various other economic activities. There is a multiplier effect that we want to present,” Tsamara Amany remarked.
Local Government Anticipates Tourism Boost
Separately, Deputy Regent of Bandung, Ali Syakieb, expressed his hopes that the Piala Presiden 2026 would bring positive economic outcomes for the region, particularly for SMEs and the tourism sector. He believes that the enthusiasm of supporters attending games at Stadion Si Jalak Harupat has the potential to increase local economic activity and promote the tourism potential of Kabupaten Bandung.
“Those who want to watch the matches will automatically be in Kabupaten Bandung, and we hope this can introduce or promote tourism here,” Ali Syakieb stated.
As a host, Ali affirmed that the local government intends to fully leverage this momentum to generate numerous positive benefits for Kabupaten Bandung. He also called upon the community to actively support the event.
“I ask the people of Kabupaten Bandung to support this Piala Presiden event because there are many positive aspects; it can also uplift SMEs to support your favorite team,” he added.
