HARIANEXPRESS – Blitar Regency officially launched Kopi JOZ JIZ, a new coffee brand, to strengthen the local coffee industry and build a sustainable ecosystem. The initiative aims to empower coffee farmers, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and the youth. (9/8/2026)
The Kopi JOZ JIZ brand, an initiative by Blitar Deputy Regent Beky Herdihansah, seeks to optimize the region’s coffee potential. It aims to build a sustainable coffee ecosystem, encompassing cultivation to consumer, from upstream to downstream sectors.
Blitar Regency is recognized as a prime coffee producer in East Java. The abundant harvest of coffee beans from local farmers was a key factor in establishing Kopi JOZ JIZ as a local brand.
The brand is expected to enhance the added value and competitiveness of Blitar coffee in the market. Its launch represents a commitment to developing the coffee industry beyond production, into processing, marketing, and community empowerment.
“We want Kopi JOZ JIZ to be the pride of Blitar society. Not only delivering quality coffee, but also providing real benefits for farmers, opening job opportunities, supporting MSMEs, and encouraging the birth of new entrepreneurs,” said Beky Herdihansah (Commissioner of Kopi JOZ JIZ, Deputy Regent of Blitar).
Beky highlighted Blitar Regency’s distinctive coffee character and competitive quality. He emphasized the necessity for collaborative efforts among various stakeholders to ensure the sustainable growth of the local coffee industry.
He called upon government officials, business actors, religious leaders, and creative communities to collectively drive the local economy through coffee industry development. The Blitar Regency Government has also expressed its support for the brand.
Regent of Blitar, Rijanto, who attended the launch, commended the inclusive business model that merges economic and social aspects. “The Blitar Regency Government strongly supports the growth of creative businesses based on local potential. Kopi JOZ JIZ is not only business-oriented but also has a strong social spirit in empowering the community,” said Rijanto.
Rijanto further elaborated on Blitar Regency’s significant coffee plantation potential. By 2025, the harvest area across five central sub-districts—Gandusari, Garum, Selopuro, Doko, and Wlingi—is projected to reach 2,399 hectares.
This area is anticipated to yield a total production of up to 1,886 tons of green coffee beans. He stressed that this substantial production potential requires an effective downstreaming strategy.
The strategy should maximize added value for the community’s economy, supported by proper post-harvest processing, strong branding, modern marketing, and creative industry involvement. This holistic approach aims to elevate Blitar coffee as a leading regional product, gaining wider recognition.
Through the introduction of Kopi JOZ JIZ, Blitar Regency endeavors to strengthen its local coffee industry chain, from farmers to consumers. This initiative is expected to boost community welfare and create new business opportunities.
