HARIANEXPRESS – The Surabaya Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Commission A Chairman, Yona Bagus Widyatmoko, has urged the Inspectorate to thoroughly investigate an alleged job fraud network within the Surabaya City Government (Pemkot Surabaya).
This demand follows the dismissal of two contract workers (THL) from the Transportation Agency and Satpol PP, who were suspected of involvement in a scheme promising positions as city government employees.
The issue has garnered significant attention from Commission A, prompting a call to uncover any wider complicity. Widyatmoko, a Gerindra politician known as Cak Yebe, stressed that the investigation should not stop with just these two individuals but must trace any involvement of other parties in illegal levies related to job promises.
According to Widyatmoko, the potential for similar fraudulent practices requires anticipation, particularly within regional apparatus organizations (OPD) that directly interact with the public. He specifically mentioned Satpol PP, Dishub, Damkar, BPBD, sub-districts, and villages as areas that need close supervision due to their intensive public engagement.
Widyatmoko, who is also a Doctoral Law student at Universitas Dr. Soetomo (Unitomo) Surabaya, outlined concrete steps for the Inspectorate. He stated:
“The concrete step is that the Inspectorate must gather colleagues from the OPDs and conduct a thorough observation, even down to the sub-district level.”
The Chairman firmly clarified that financial losses incurred by victims due to these fraudulent practices do not fall under the responsibility of the Pemkot Surabaya. The perpetrators themselves must bear the full burden of returning any money obtained through their schemes.
Widyatmoko, also Deputy Chairman of DPC Gerindra Surabaya, further emphasized this point:
“The return of money is entirely the responsibility of the individual perpetrators, not the responsibility of the City Government.”
Victims are advised to pursue legal channels to obtain a definitive resolution and recover their losses.
In response to the rampant gratification scheme, the broader community is strongly advised to be more discerning and avoid being easily enticed by sweet promises from individuals who demand payment in exchange for city government employment. Citizens should verify all job offers carefully.
Commission A has also assured its commitment to evaluating internal oversight mechanisms and unequivocally stated that all official information regarding recruitment announcements will be disseminated solely through the Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia (BKPSDM) or Regional Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency.
Widyatmoko concluded by reaffirming Commission A’s proactive stance:
“Certainly. As a working partner, Commission A will schedule a summons for the Inspectorate and BKPSDM to discuss this developing issue and deliberate concrete follow-up steps.”
