HARIANEXPRESS – Manyar district in Gresik has been identified as the region with the highest number of narcotics case disclosures throughout 2025, recording 25 cases.
In response, Polres Gresik is preparing to launch “Operasi Tumpas Narkoba Semeru 2026,” deploying 103 personnel to combat drug trafficking and evolving distribution patterns. This 12-day operation is scheduled to run from August 12 to 23, 2026, targeting users, dealers, and extensive drug networks.
Manyar Identified as Gresik’s Primary Drug Hotspot
Data from Polres Gresik indicates that Manyar recorded 25 narcotics cases in 2025, making it the area with the most disclosures in Gresik Regency. This figure highlights a significant shift in drug distribution methods across the region.
Following Manyar, other areas with high case numbers include Driyorejo with 23 cases, Kebomas with 16 cases, and Gresik Kota with 15 cases. These statistics form a crucial basis for the upcoming police operation.
“Operasi Tumpas Narkoba Semeru 2026” Underway
Polres Gresik is mobilizing 103 personnel for “Operasi Tumpas Narkoba Semeru 2026,” a 12-day initiative from August 12 to 23, 2026. The Satresnarkoba Polres Gresik unit will lead the operation, supported by various Polsek ranks.
Preparation for the operation began with a Pre-Operation Training (Lat Pra Ops) at Mapolres Gresik on Monday, August 10, 2026. Kompol Arief Sukmo Wibowo, Kabag Ops Polres Gresik, led this training, representing Kapolres Gresik AKBP Ramadhan Nasution.
The operation’s primary targets extend beyond just users and addicts; it specifically aims at distributors, networks, and drug syndicates. Law enforcement will focus on evidence such as Narcotics Class I, II, and III, synthetic tobacco or gorilla, PCC, and various illegal drugs.
Adapting to Evolving Drug Distribution Patterns
Ipda Hendry Nurdiansyah, Kanit IV Satintelkam Polres Gresik, noted that drug distribution patterns in Gresik are continuously developing. Transactions are no longer solely direct between sellers and buyers.
“Distribution no longer relies solely on direct transactions. Police have found potential use of the system ranjau, distribution of hard drugs without prescriptions, and storage of narcotics in residential areas, public facilities, and educational environments,” he stated.
The mobile nature of drug networks also presents a challenge to officers. Police are urged to leverage technology to track these networks and anticipate potential information leaks or involvement of unscrupulous individuals.
“Officers in the field are also required to utilize technology to track networks that frequently move, and to be vigilant about potential information leaks or involvement of individuals,” Hendry added.
Police Directives for Effective Enforcement
Kompol Arief Sukmo Wibowo, Kabag Ops Polres Gresik, instructed all personnel to strengthen early detection and take action based on thorough investigations. Raids must be conducted precisely, and case handling should not stop at arrests but be developed through legal processes and case submission to the prosecutor’s office.
AKP Ahmad Yani, Kasat Resnarkoba Polres Gresik, emphasized that all police reports related to narcotics cases will be centralized through Satresnarkoba Polres Gresik. This centralization aims to consolidate data, enhance case mapping, and facilitate further development to dismantle larger networks.
Yani also stressed that drug enforcement must not be arbitrary, requiring thorough and measured investigation for every action. Personnel are also reminded to avoid arrogant actions that could endanger officers or tarnish the police institution.
The dynamic nature of the drug threat in Gresik means officers must be vigilant against new forms and conventional transaction patterns. New methods under police scrutiny include liquid vape narcotics, smuggling through toys, and hidden storage locations for drugs.
Despite Gresik’s reputation as a “Kota Santri” (City of Santri), police are cautioned against complacency regarding the drug threat. The operation is directed to move beyond mere arrest numbers, focusing on understanding distribution patterns and dismantling entire drug networks.
“Do not assume that because Gresik is known as the City of Santri, we feel the situation is always safe and carry out operations as usual,” asserted AKP Akhmad Yani.
