HARIANEXPRESS – Personnel from the Indonesian Military (TNI) and partner forces from the United States, Japan, Australia, and Canada recently sharpened their air evacuation skills during a crucial medical evacuation (medevac) drill. This exercise, part of Super Garuda Shield (SGS) 2026, was held at the Army Combat Training Center in Martapura, South Sumatra.
The drill, announced in a press release on Thursday, Sept. 3, aimed to enhance tactical capabilities and strengthen multilateral ties between Indonesia and its partner nations.
Multinational Forces Boost Medevac Capabilities
The medevac drill at the Army Combat Training Center in Martapura, South Sumatra, simulated the evacuation of a soldier wounded during combat. This realistic scenario allowed participants to practice critical life-saving procedures.
Field medics promptly administered first aid and secured the area while awaiting the arrival of a medical extraction helicopter. The exercise strictly followed established standard operating procedures and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all personnel involved.
The patient was subsequently transported via a Black Hawk helicopter to a fully equipped medical center, receiving continuous care throughout the flight, the TNI Information Center stated.
The Indonesian Military (TNI) highlighted that such drills are vital for ensuring that life-saving capabilities can be effectively deployed. This applies to both combat operations and humanitarian missions, underscoring a dual focus on readiness and safety for all personnel.
