HARIANEXPRESS – Melons cultivated by farmers in Blitar Regency have successfully penetrated the Singapore market. This achievement demonstrates that local horticultural products possess the potential to compete in the global market.
Such success is possible when supported by enhanced quality, farmer assistance, proper post-harvest handling, and sustainable market access.
Blitar Melons Enter Singapore Market
The shipment of Blitar melons to Singapore is a result of collaboration involving farmers, the local government, and business stakeholders. This joint effort aims to strengthen Blitar’s agricultural ecosystem.
This significant milestone was marked during the ‘Berbagi Energi untuk Negeri’ event held on August 26, 2026, which also coincided with Hari Tani Nasional.
Event Highlights and Support for Farmers
The ‘Berbagi Energi untuk Negeri’ event included a collective melon harvest and health check-ups for partner farmers. Additionally, agricultural equipment was distributed, and farmers received appreciation for their efforts.
These activities highlight that boosting the competitiveness of agricultural products requires more than just increasing production volumes.
Local government support plays a crucial role in developing a robust agricultural ecosystem.
“Cross-sector collaboration forms the foundation for regional horticulture products to evolve from domestic markets to global ones,” stated Cindyanto Kristian, CEO of PT Sewu Segar Nusantara.
The Blitar Regency government, along with various stakeholders, is encouraged to strengthen farmer capacities. They are also urged to improve harvest quality, refine post-harvest handling, and expand market access.
