HARIANEXPRESS – China’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong, advocates for Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) to expand into the vast Chinese market. This initiative aims to capitalize on the 1.4 billion-strong consumer base and enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
Ambassador Wang emphasized China’s support for Indonesian SMEs’ international expansion. He stated this would not only boost their development capacity and competitiveness but also diversify product offerings in regional and global markets.
The Chinese market features 400 million middle-income consumers actively seeking diverse and high-quality products. Indonesia is already recognized for its premium agricultural, marine, handicraft, and green products.
Wang noted a growing interest from Indonesian SMEs in exploring the Chinese market, indicating strong potential for entry. China encourages their participation in trade initiatives like “Export to China” and “Invest in China,” along with major trade fairs.
“We support Indonesian MSMEs in expanding internationally, which not only improves their development capacity and competitiveness but also enriches the variety of products in regional and global markets,” said Wang Lutong.
“With their participation, Indonesian businesspeople will be able to create high-quality products with distinctive characteristics suited for the Chinese market,” Wang said.
Ambassador Wang expressed confidence that cooperation between Indonesian and Chinese SMEs will strengthen with the integration of cross-border QR code payment systems. This includes QRIS access in China and Chinese QR systems in Indonesia.
He believes these payment systems will reduce cross-border transaction costs and improve capital turnover efficiency. The enhanced payment security and efficiency will foster greater convenience for transactions between the two nations.
“This will support payment convenience between the two countries, create new momentum in MSME development and bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and boost consumption,” said the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia.
China reaffirms its commitment to sharing development opportunities, arising from its high-quality growth and high-standard openness, with the global community, including Indonesian SMEs.
