HARIANEXPRESS – The Tulungagung Regency Fire and Rescue Department (DPKP) in East Java rescued a four-month-old toddler locked inside a car at a coffee shop parking area in Tamanan Village, Tulungagung District, on Tuesday.
Iwan Supriyono, Head of the Evacuation and Rescue Section at DPKP Tulungagung, stated the incident occurred after the toddler’s parents sought assistance. They reported their child was inadvertently locked inside their vehicle.
Based on information gathered by officers, the toddler’s parents, identified by the initials AWC (27), a resident of Bangoan Village, Kedungwaru District, had briefly exited their vehicle. Shortly after, the car door closed and became locked, with the infant remaining inside.
Upon receiving the urgent report, the DPKP promptly dispatched its Tim Baruna 2 unit to the scene. The team’s objective was to perform the rescue using specialized equipment designed to open the car door without causing any damage to the vehicle.
“The toddler’s parents, identified by the initials AWC (27), a resident of Bangoan Village, Kedungwaru District, reported that their child was locked inside the car,” stated Iwan Supriyono (Head of Evacuation and Rescue Section at DPKP Tulungagung).
“We used special equipment so that the vehicle door could be opened safely,” Iwan Supriyono.
The entire evacuation process was completed efficiently, taking approximately 10 minutes from the team’s arrival. The balita was successfully freed from the vehicle in a healthy state, showing no signs of injury or distress.
It was noted that the vehicle’s engine and air conditioning system were both turned off during the incident. Despite these conditions, the four-month-old remained unharmed during the rescue operation.
The DPKP urges the community to always ensure that children are not left unattended inside vehicles. They also advise vehicle owners to consistently carry their car keys when exiting the car to prevent similar accidental lock-ins.
