The region’s distinct approach to motorcycle customization sets it apart from other Indonesian cities, showcasing a unique local characteristic. This notable trend is particularly evident within the active development of the Classy motorcycle community in Yogyakarta.
Adianto Pangaribuan, Supervisor Public Relations for PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), specifically highlighted Yogyakarta’s prominence. He noted the significant number of women actively involved in modifying their motorcycles.
“Jogja cukup unik. Ternyata perempuan mau memodifikasi motornya. Mereka punya selera sendiri dan ikut serta dalam kegiatan modifikasi. Itu yang kami lihat menjadi sesuatu yang menarik,” ujar Adianto Pangaribuan.
Modifications on Classy motorcycles frequently involve creative color schemes and the addition of various accessories. Furthermore, participants often incorporate diverse themes, ranging from rally and racing aesthetics to anime or popular characters such as Toy Story.
Yamaha specifically positions its Classy line, which includes popular models like the Fazzio and Fino, as ideal lifestyle motorcycles. These bikes are intended to serve as a versatile medium for users to effectively express their unique character and personal style.
This significantly high level of female participation distinctly differentiates Yogyakarta from other Indonesian cities that also host similar modification events. Female participants in Yogyakarta are not merely present but actively contribute by showcasing their innovative modification concepts based on individual preferences.
Adianto additionally confirmed that the national market for two-wheeled vehicles continues to demonstrate stable performance. He explained that motorcycles remain a primary choice for many people due to their inherent efficiency as a mode of transportation.
Yamaha reports sustained positive reception in the market, particularly for its popular Maxi Yamaha category, encompassing models like the NMAX, Aerox, and XMAX. The Classy Yamaha line, which includes the Fazzio and Fino, also maintains a strong and consistent appeal among consumers.
Yamaha had previously organized its Classy Modifest program, a series of modification events, across five major cities. These cities specifically included Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Bandung, and Bali, showcasing regional customization talents.
Among all the locations where these events took place, Yogyakarta was particularly highlighted. It was noted for the significant and active involvement of women in the unique motorcycle modification scene.
