HARIANEXPRESS – Ponorogo Class IIB Detention Center provided free health screenings for inmate families and local residents as part of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day celebrations on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The event, held in the front yard of the detention center, saw 48 participants utilize the complimentary health services. This program represents a social initiative by Rutan Ponorogo, aiming to broaden access to health services and strengthen community relations.
Services offered included blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid checks, alongside health consultations conducted by the Rutan Ponorogo medical staff. Participants also received education on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, diet management, and the importance of regular health check-ups for disease prevention.
From morning, visiting families of inmates and surrounding community members took turns following the prepared flow for examinations. The entire series of activities proceeded smoothly, with medical personnel explaining results to ensure participants understood their health status and could take preventive measures if specific risk factors were identified.
The Head of Ponorogo Class IIB Detention Center stated that the activity is a form of public service and a commitment to more humane correctional services.
“Kegiatan pemeriksaan kesehatan gratis ini merupakan salah satu bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat sekaligus upaya mempererat hubungan baik antara Rutan Ponorogo dengan lingkungan sekitar. Selain memeriahkan peringatan HUT ke-81 Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia, kegiatan ini juga menjadi wujud komitmen Rutan Ponorogo dalam menghadirkan pelayanan yang humanis, bermanfaat, dan berdampak langsung bagi masyarakat,” stated the Head of Ponorogo Class IIB Detention Center.
The official expressed hope that similar initiatives would foster a spirit of togetherness and reinforce social care. It is also intended to encourage the community to adopt healthy lifestyles, ensuring that Independence Day celebrations offer tangible benefits beyond ceremonial aspects.
