HARIANEXPRESS – BPBD Kota Blitar is enhancing its readiness for potential water crises during the 2026 dry season. Although no drought incidents have been reported, the agency has requested an additional 10 water tanks from the East Java Provincial Government. These tanks will augment the existing 21 units, serving to store clean water for distribution if areas begin to face supply difficulties.
Agus Suherli, Head of BPBD Kota Blitar, stated that the agency has already identified 15 sub-districts as vulnerable to water shortages. Some of these tanks have been distributed as a precautionary measure, with areas like Ngadirejo, Sentul, Tanjungsari, Bendo, and Bendogerit being prioritized. The request for more tanks stems from observations of declining water levels in neighboring regions of East Java, prompting a need to strengthen preparedness.
The strategy involves placing water tanks in strategic locations within each vulnerable sub-district. If a sub-district experiences crises in multiple areas, additional tanks will be deployed. Currently, BPBD Kota Blitar does not own water tank trucks and will collaborate with the Department of Environment (DLH) and the Fire Department (Damkar) for distribution, a practice maintained from previous years.
In a separate but related development on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Blitar City Police conducted an inspection of official firearms held by its personnel. The inspection, led by Police Chief AKBP Ardhy Zul Hasbih Nasution, aimed to monitor and control the use of service weapons, ensuring adherence to administrative completeness, condition, and proper usage procedures.
This routine check is part of efforts to enhance the discipline, responsibility, and professionalism of police personnel in handling firearms. The police aim for safe and compliant execution of duties.
