HARIANEXPRESS – A fatal traffic accident on Jalan Trans Kalimantan, Satui, claimed seven lives on Saturday (1/8/2026). Pertamina Patra Niaga confirmed the involved tank truck was not its operational armada.
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan conveyed its deepest condolences following this severe road accident. The deadly collision occurred in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan.
The incident involved a tank truck and a pickup vehicle, which has garnered significant concern from various parties. This tragic event has led to profound grief from the company.
Following initial information regarding the tank truck’s involvement, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan immediately conducted an internal investigation. The preliminary findings confirmed that the vehicle was not registered as an operational asset of Pertamina.
“Kami menyampaikan belasungkawa dan duka cita yang mendalam kepada keluarga korban. Semoga korban yang menjalani perawatan segera pulih, dan keluarga yang ditinggalkan diberikan kekuatan serta kesabaran,” ujar Edi Mangun (Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR Regional Kalimantan PT Pertamina Patra Niaga).
The accident reportedly began when the tank truck was traveling from Banjarbaru towards Batulicin. During its journey, the vehicle reportedly lost control.
The tank truck then suddenly swerved into the right lane, colliding with a pickup truck approaching from the opposite direction. This severe impact resulted in the multiple fatalities.
Edi Mangun further added that the tank truck had never recorded any service activity at a Pertamina Terminal. Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to maintain close coordination with relevant authorities to verify all information.
“Kami terus berkoordinasi dengan pihak terkait untuk memastikan informasi mengenai kendaraan tersebut. Proses penanganan dan penyelidikan sepenuhnya kami serahkan kepada pihak berwenang,” Pungkas Edi Mangun.
The entire process of handling this incident and the subsequent investigation into the fatal accident has been fully handed over to the authorities. Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to supporting the legal proceedings to ascertain the truth behind the occurrence.
