HARIANEXPRESS – The Head of RT 09 RW 09 Grogol Selatan, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, organized a free culinary training session on making soft, practical, and economical steamed sponge cake for dozens of residents on Sunday, (19/07/2026).
This routine monthly activity took place at the residence of RT 09 Head, Ibu Rosadah, located on Jalan Rawa Simprug VII. The training, offered free to RT 09 RW 09 members, is a community-based empowerment program.
Ibu Rosadah, acting as instructor and chef, personally shared recipes and techniques for the steamed sponge cake. She demonstrated step-by-step with local cadres to ensure perfectly bloomed cakes at efficient production costs.
Supporting the event were Secretary of PKK RW 09 Ibu Sungkawati, Head of Karang Taruna RW 09 Bang Agung Cahyo, and local Jumantik and Dasawisma cadres. Ibu Rosadah emphasized that the initiative aimed to provide practical skills for homemakers.
“Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pendapatan keluarga sekaligus memberdayakan masyarakat melalui kegiatan yang bermanfaat. Dengan keterampilan yang didapat, ibu-ibu bisa membantu perekonomian keluarga atau setidaknya menyajikan camilan sehat buatan sendiri untuk keluarga tercinta,” ujar Ibu Rosadah.
Participants showed great enthusiasm throughout the practical session, actively consulting on ingredient measurements and steaming techniques. A strong sense of camaraderie developed as all attendees tasted the freshly baked steamed sponge cake at the event’s conclusion.
The initial products bloomed perfectly, earning warm appreciation from all residents present. Through this monthly program, the Head of RT 09 RW 09 Grogol Selatan hopes to foster new home-based culinary entrepreneurs.
This initiative aims to strengthen the economic resilience of families within the South Jakarta region. It offers opportunities for participants to boost household income or prepare healthy homemade snacks for their families.
