This strategic initiative was a key discussion point during the Workshop on Amplifying Digital Islamic Literacy in the AI Era. The event took place at the MUI Central Office in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
The workshop was themed “Strengthening Zakat, Infak, and Sedekah (ZIS) Outreach to Build the Community in the Digital Era.” It provided a crucial platform for both institutions to formulate comprehensive strategies for enhancing zakat education. These strategies aim to more effectively reach the wider community through various digital platforms.
H. Idy Muzayyad, the Head of Distribution, Utilization, and Empowerment at Baznas, played a key role in the discussions. He highlighted the profound importance of these collaborative efforts for national zakat management.
Idy emphasized the necessity of utilizing technological advancements, including AI, for outreach. He stated that these tools are crucial for broadening public understanding of zakat and increasing participation in ZIS management.
“This strategic collaboration between Baznas RI and MUI Digital Media is very important to strengthen zakat literacy amidst the rapid development of digital technology and artificial intelligence,” said Idy.
Idy further elaborated that this synergy focuses on three primary objectives. These include enhancing public comprehension of zakat, expanding the promotion of existing zakat programs, and fostering discussions on current zakat-related issues in public discourse.
He expressed hope that the partnership would reinforce the role of digital media as a vital educational tool. This collaboration seeks to extend the reach of information regarding the extensive benefits of zakat to diverse segments of society.
“We hope this synergy can present zakat education that is much broader, adaptive, and capable of reaching various levels of society in the modern era,” he added.
