HARIANEXPRESS – The live-action series Scooby-Doo: Origins has officially finished production on its first season. The upcoming Netflix series is scheduled to debut globally in 2027, though a specific launch date has not been shared yet.
Filming for the project took place in Atlanta and wrapped up in September 2026. Netflix has also shared an initial look at Scooby-Doo, who will be brought to life by a real Great Dane.
Featuring a Real Great Dane and Modern Reimagining
Using a real dog stands out as a major highlight of the production. This creative choice introduces a fresh direction for the franchise by starring an actual Great Dane in the live-action adaptation.
The show presents a modern take on the iconic group of teenage investigators featuring Daphne, Shaggy, Velma, and Fred, together with Scooby-Doo.
The Beginning of Mystery Inc.
Unlike past adaptations, Scooby-Doo: Origins focuses on how the crew originally formed. The plot kicks off when Shaggy and Daphne get caught up in a mystery involving a Great Dane puppy and a suspected supernatural murder.
Velma and Fred subsequently join the inquiry, drawing them into a case that marks the foundation of the mystery-solving team.
Cast and Production Team
The main cast features Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Mckenna Grace as Daphne, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred. Additional cast members consist of Paul Walter Hauser, Rusty Schwimmer, Peter Macon, Jona Xiao, Sara Gilbert, Bruce McGill, and André Benjamin.
Warner Bros. Television produces the series in association with Berlanti Productions and Midnight Radio. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg act as showrunners and writers.
