HARIANEXPRESS – Forty members of the Blitar Regency Fire Department (Damkar) and Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) tested negative for illegal drugs after undergoing urine tests on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

This initiative, a collaborative effort with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Blitar Regency, aims to prevent drug abuse within the local government apparatus. The screening involved 29 Damkar members and 11 Satpol PP personnel, all tested at the Satpol PP and Damkar Office.

The Blitar Regency Government regularly conducts these checks as an early detection step to ensure a drug-free environment for its public servants. Officials emphasize that such tests are crucial for maintaining integrity and professionalism.

“We requested assistance from BNN to conduct urine tests on our members. This activity is to find out if any of our members are using illegal drugs,” said Achmad Cholik (Head of Satpol PP and Damkar Blitar Regency).

Cholik also stated that any member testing positive for drugs would be directed towards rehabilitation, depending on their condition and status. However, he warned that involvement in drug trafficking would lead to dishonorable dismissal.

“A total of 40 people underwent urine tests and all results were negative,” said M Yusuf Eko Haryanto (Head of Community Empowerment Team, BNN Blitar Regency).

Yusuf clarified that these tests are primarily for prevention and early detection, not for law enforcement purposes. BNN provides free rehabilitation services for drug users, addicts, or victims, while distributors face legal consequences.

For individuals with mild drug abuse conditions, rehabilitation is typically conducted weekly for eight sessions. Local hospitals referred by BNN Blitar Regency also offer paid rehabilitation services.
